OSCOLA Commercial Law Moot
The OSCOLA Commercial Law Moot is an annual internal mooting competition organised by the OSCOLA committee. The Moot focuses on issues of commercial law and competitors have the opportunity to demonstrate a keen grasp of commerciality in front of eminent judges, with our most recent judge being the President of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom, Lord Reed of Allermuir.

I am grateful to the OSCOLA committee for organising this
year's mooting competition. It was a good opportunity to
compete in areas relevant to commercial practice, with the
problems spanning contract, tort, and civil procedure.
Mooting before Lord Reed and Rebecca Fry (Head Judicial
Assistant) in Courtroom 1 of the Supreme Court was a very
enjoyable and rewarding experience. I am pleased to
have competed against another Magdalen team in the
final, continuing the college's success in this competition.I
am also grateful to my moot partner Zoe for putting up
with me being in Washington DC for a different moot
when the skeleton arguments were first due and her being
in Sofia for a different moot during the quarter final.

with Lord Reed

Zoe Rawlings, Champion of the 2026 Moot
with Lord Reed
Mooting in the Supreme Court was an experience that I will always remember. I was very excited to get the opportunity to be judged by Lord Reed of Allermuir! The OSCOLA Moot offered an excellent opportunity for me to keep my mooting skills fresh in Trinity term and to engage with some interesting issues in contract and civil procedure. I am very grateful to OSCOLA for organising such a wonderful final and to my moot partner Cathal for always challenging me to be a better advocate.
