OSCOLA was founded in Michaelmas 2020 by a team of like-minded students who aspire to pursue careers in commercial law.

Alex Yean

Co-Founder and Advisor

Alex is a third-year law student at Exeter College. He has signed a training contract with Debevoise & Plimpton, and has also received training contract offers from Allen & Overy and Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.

Jiaxu Yao

Co-Founder and Advisor

Jiaxu is a third-year history and politics student at St Hugh's College. He has secured a training contract at Freshfields. Jiaxu was also the former Development Director of the Oxford Strategy Group.

Yan Shen Tan

Co-Founder and Advisor

Yan Shen is a third-year law student at Mansfield College. He has completed several vacation schemes and was also the former President of the Oxford Division of Lawyers Without Borders.

Danny Holroyde

Co-President

Danny is also the co-president of Trinity College Law Society. He has been doing ongoing pro bono advisory work for Citizens Advice and the Oxford Pro Bono Working Group.

Joseph Khaw

Co-President

Joseph is a first-year law student at Wadham College. He has secured a vacation sceme with HSF and insight schemes with Latham & Watkins, Clifford Chance and Hogan Lovells. Before starting at Oxford, he completed five legal internships and was an investment analyst at a VC firm.

Darren Leow

Co-President

Darren is a first-year law student at Sommerville College. He interned with CMS Holborn Asia and was a research associate at an emerging capital advisory firm. He is currently a Managing Editor of the Singapore Comparative Law Review.

Amelia Seymour

Committee Member

Amelia is a second-year law student at Christ Church College. She has attended insight schemes at Clifford Chance, Baker McKenzie, Ashurst, and Simmons & Simmons and has signed a training contract with Clifford Chance. Amelia is also passionate about access.

Advay Saxena

Committee Member

Advay is a second-year Law with Spanish Law student at Wadham College and is seeking to pursue a career in commercial law. He has interned at a New York-based hedge fund and is also the Development Officer for Oxford Junior Lawyers Against Poverty.

Kylie Chong

Committee Member

Kylie is a first-year Law student at University College. She has represented Hong Kong at international debate tournaments and secured a place on Clifford Chance's 2021 SPARK scheme. She hopes to improve students’ understanding of commercial law.

Zyna Shoukat

Committee Member

Zyna is a first-year Law student at Pembroke from Pakistan. She has completed 4 online legal internships prior to Oxford but unfortunately has completed none in person due to the unsuitable work environment for women in Pakistan. She hopes to work with her NGO and encourage her peers and women from her country to pursue a career in commercial law.

Karishma Khosla

Committee Member

Karishma is a first year Law student at Wadham College. Following placements with Clifford Chance and Weil, Gotshal & Manges, she intends to become a commercial solicitor. Karishma recognises the need to widen access to Oxford and was selected to work with Target Schools to help facilitate this and attempt to eliminate ideas of the Oxford stereotype.

Kush Patel

Committee Member

Kush is in his second year, studying law at Jesus College. He has attended a First Year Insight Scheme at Slaughter and May. Kush is passionate about achieving racial equality as an elected Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic representative at Oxford.
